Dear Lilith Fair,

Here is the first full song I remember writing! I was 12 years old when I wrote it. It is about a father putting pressure on his son. Enjoy!

Dear Lilith Fair,

The awesome site Caketease (http://caketease.wordpress.com), now has a section called “Sugar and Sound” where they interview musicians at bakeries! I was interviewed at Sugar Sweet Sunshine in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. You can go here: http://caketease.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/alysongreenfield/ to check out the article which discusses chocolate peppermint cupcakes, Bjork, Tori Amos, Joss Whedon, and of course YOU, Dear Lilith Fair!

Song Journal 1: Happy 04/12/2010

Dear Lilith Fair,

Last night I saw Chris Barron (Spin Doctors) perform live for the first time. The Spin Doctors’ album “Pocket Full of Kryptonite” was the first CD I ever bought. I also found a Spin Doctors t-shirt at a thrift store and I used to think it was really cool when I would wear it around my middle school. Hearing Chris’s familiar voice sing “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and “Two Princes” put a huge smile on my face. So many of Chris’s songs made me smile and dance. When I came home I recorded a song journal about experiencing his performance.

(*This is the first song on this blog I am listing as a “Song Journal” although other songs here were created with the same process– sit down, press record, play/sing, see what comes out, upload to blog. To me a Song Journal is a way to get thoughts and feelings out like one would in writing, except I am doing it through song. Song Journals are not finished songs but have the potential to be. Who knows how all the song thoughts will end up!?)

Dear Lilith Fair,

I’m excited because Martin Firrell (amazing artist/activist) wrote me to tell me how much he enjoyed my song “Letter” that was inspired by his work and which I posted here a couple of entries back!

Also, the folks at The WILD Honey Pie just posted a new review of my music and they say: “Her tracks are mesmerizing….she’s also launched her Dear Lilith Fair blog, complete with title song to highlight all of the reasons why she should be selected for this year’s line up. Even without the blog, they’re pretty damn clear.”
